At a time when a technical education seemed an unrealistic hope for all but a few women and youth of ugar and its surrounding area,Late shri Babukakasaheb Shiragaokar and shiragaokar family bravely asserted that the day for providing technical education for all women and youth of ugar and its surrounding area had come. The Shri Babukaka Shiragaokar Technical Educational Trust was established in the year 1994 as a tribute to late Shri Babukaka Shiragaokar on his retirement as a managing director of The Ugar Sugar Works ltd.

The then managing director of The Ugar Sugar Works Pvt Ltd. Shri.Rajendra.V. Shirgaokar took over charge as chairman of the trust, continued the yeoman work and In 1994, As a first step, trust started PVT INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE (ITI) with five trades 1) DPCS 2) CUTTING AND TAILORING 3) ELECTRICIAN 4) FITTER 5) INSTRUMENT- MECHANIC to impart vocational training to women and youth as craftsmen as per prescribed syllabus prepared by D.G.E.T. New Delhi.

With determined effort the institute had got its own well designed full fledged building on Spaces land as per DGET norms in the following year in the vicinity of well known sugar industry “The Ugar Sugar Works Pvt Ltd” . Since then institute is steadily marched towards silver jubilee year under the leadership of shiragaokar family by sustaining the founder’s vision of karmayoga

The institute, to create enthusiasm and inspiration in trainees about their vocation, every year on 2nd January which is birthday of Late shri Babukakasaheb Shiragaokar and also Annual day of our institute, the Gunavanth kamagar purskar is presented to a worker from The Ugar Sugar Works Pvt Ltd.

Shri. Prafulla.V. Shirgaokar the then Executive Director of Ugar Sugar Works ltd Ugar khurd promoted as managing director and also he shouldered the responsibility as chairman of trust. From the inception of the trust he was actively and whole heartedly involved in the development of the trust activities and he took keen interest in day today activity also. As per his guidance our institute started VSS and the we get permission for NSS from the government.

Shri. Prafulla.V. Shirgaokar is also having very good helpful nature and a view to study the need of society. By his deep study & guidance our trust commenced HAID course which helped rural area students both boys and girls , local doctors also. We started many activities in his tenure and got good response from all.

The present chairman of the trust Shri Shishir S. Shirgaokar Managing Director of Ugar Sugar Works ltd Ugar khurd took over the baton in 2011, continued the good work, and endeavoring to develop the institute horizontally as well as vertically to cope the society’s future need of well nurtured and trained technicians, engineers, professionals.

It is said that “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others. This saying is a motivation force to The Shri Babukaka Shiragaokar Technical Educational Trust,Ugar khurd which is all set to launch its official website.
